Parsnips, carrots, pretty purple cabbage, Setanta potatoes, onions, mushrooms, tomatoes, red pepper. Thank you Abel and Cole.
Courtesy of ingredient combination suggestions from The Flavour Thesaurus we ate baked trout (lemon, parsley), parsnip & potato mash (olive oil, black pepper) with peas. And maybe a little mayonnaise. And a couple of cornichon. Like a deconstructed tartare sauce. Without the capers. Or the finesse.
'I'm a Bit Poor Post Christmas' Tip of the Day- The trout came from Waitrose. Waitrose?! Yes, Waitrose. Two whole trout, £2.85 from the fish counter. Freshly sealed in a nice ready to bake bag complete with my choice of lemon and parsley. Ok, I did have to ask for the bag. Whole trout £5.99 per kg and trout fillets £10.99 per kg. I am a genius at filleting a cooked fish now. Ha! I know your game Waitrose.
Second jog of 2011 today. Ow. Ow ow ow ow ow. Please can I have these? Pretty sure if I start going out in these as well as the bobble hat/tea cosy and green hoodie Dr W will stop jogging with me...
